Tonight, Linda and I saw Mates of State at the Mercury Lounge and then ate a terrible Mexican dinner. We took the F home to Brooklyn and then transferred to the A train at Jay Street. The train slowed to a crawl between Jay and Hoyt-Schermerhorn, and I noticed about two dozen SWAT team members crowded on the track adjacent. They were all pointing machine guns at something on the ground.
I nudged Linda. “Hey,” I said. “Look at that.”
The train crawled past more SWAT team members. All in helmets, all with guns. Aloud I remarked, “What the fuck?” yet few others on the train seemed to notice what was going on. Then Linda spotted a cast chair. It read “John Travolta.”
It was a shoot for the remake of The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3, starring Travolta and Denzel Washington. As much as I hated hearing about this production, I felt just a little closer to the original, perhaps my favorite movie of all time. Just watch the trailer below. (Photo via Just Jared)
