From Star Tribune, Dec. 5, 2006:
Al Franken will return Friday to the place where it all began. The comedian-commentator will broadcast his radio show live from the stage of the Brave New Workshop, 2605 Hennepin Av. S., in Minneapolis, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Franken first hopped up on Dudley Riggs’ platform of comedy when he was a high school student, with his partner, Tom Davis.
The show is open to the public, but be warned, there are only about 200 seats in the theater and admission is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.
Franken grew up in St. Louis Park and cut his teeth at the workshop before going on to start “Saturday Night Live” and become a bestselling author. “The Al Franken Show” is the flagship program of Air America Radio, heard locally at 950 AM. –Graydon Royce
