- Flak Radio, Episode Three – If you haven’t heard it, you’re missing something really special. Just like the guy who excused himself to make a cellphone call before Michael Richards’ meltdown and missed this. While Jim, Taylor and I steer away from insane, career-demolishing rants, we do have some strong feelings about the new Tenacious D record, Time’s All-Time 100 Albums list, and NBC’s The Office.
- John From Cincinnati – David Milch’s new HBO pilot sounds great. “There is a dysfunctional family viewed through the twin prisms of surfing and heroin addiction, a space alien and a lawyer named Dickstein. It should be mentioned that some characters occasionally levitate.”
- The only thing better than revisiting my DVD copy of “Jaws” this Sunday was watching this on Monday morning. It’s “Jaws in 30 seconds and Reenacted by Bunnies.”
- The Proposition – Duuuuude. This movie is not for the faint of heart. I shudder to think that I nearly screened this for my in-laws when they were in town a few weeks ago. Just when I thought Nick Cave might be softening up — as evidenced by his introspective, Leonard Cohen-style albums of late — he comes up with this compelling, shockingly violent movie about bad, bad men. I seem numb to most acts of cinema violence, but I’m still having trouble getting a couple of images out of my head today after watching this.
