That’s me, graduating from Columbia University with my master’s degree in journalism. When this picture was taken, I was in the early stages of a wicked, wicked sunburn. Two hours after the outdoor commencement ceremony had concluded, I was left with the weirdest sunburn you’ve ever seen: a bright red Lone Ranger mask.
People keep asking me how it feels to finally be done after two years of balancing school and work. It’s been really difficult to describe this feeling. It’s one part relief, yes. But also one part anxiety. And a bit of adventurism.
In a word, “relanxieturism.” The picture at right captures this perfectly, don’t you think?
I have been buying books compulsively, knowing that I might actually have time to finish a few of them. Also, I watch Baseball Tonight on ESPN free of the guilt that once dogged me with assignments due.
To climb inside the mind of a 2005 j-school graduate, check out my post over at BC Beat.
